"That's it, Bigby! To the shrink!" — Crubbs to Ned, Guide to: A New Grade and Dodgeball
"You're Fired" - Crubbs' Catchphrase
Vice Principal Harvey Crubbs (Hamilton Mitchell) is the Vice Principal of James K. Polk Middle School. He is always keeping an eye on students, especially Ned. He can be very strict, sometimes feared by students, and his colleagues alike, whilst seemingly antagonistic in some episodes, he is shown to have a kind and caring side for students and genuinely wants them to succeed.
He is obsessed with flamingos, mini powdered donuts, and sunglasses.
Trivia:[]
- The character as a whole is a huge walking, exaggerated reference to NBC's Miami Vice. The name "Crubbs" is an amalgam of the two main Miami Vice characters, "Crockett" and "Tubbs." In addition, he is always seen wearing white suits with pastel-colored T-shirts, his office is filled with Miami-related decor, and a theme very similar to the "Miami Vice Theme" composed by Jan Hammer is played whenever he appears.
- He stated to Ned in the episode Career Week that he didn't want to be a Vice Principal as a child, he wanted to be a Vice Cop in Miami and he succeeded, but he was disappointed by the job because he stated he wanted it to be more like it was on TV. He also felt as if he wasn't helping the criminals, only arresting them. So he became a Vice Principal so he can help children to become better adults, and he still has "Vice" in his title.
- In the episode Bad Habits he claims his nickname in college was Doctor No. This is a reference to the 1962 James Bond Movie Dr. No.
- He belched in the forbidden episode of Belchsters.
- April Fools' Day is his favorite day of the year and is always seen taking joy in pranking students and teachers alike.
- "You're fired!" and "Crubbs out" are his usual catchphrases uttered.
